The paint job - blacking and rudder cup

We agreed to have two coats of Bitumen applied to the hull and the lad worked quickly and well, applying the black sticky paint all round the hull below the water line up to the rim before the gunwhale. And by today with the two coats applied, the hull looks great!

The area left above the rim is what we are going to work on, treat the rust and apply black paint. This can be done on the towpath at a later date as it is well above the waterline.

The rudder cup has been cut off and we are waiting on the plate and new cup to be made and welded on either this weekend or next week.

I had a go at treating the fenders at the stern with black paint as the blue plastic rope was coming through. They may need a few coats yet.
