Buttercup weekend
After a week in Nuneaton for work, we fancied a jolly back to the view of rolling fields. Leaving our willow mooring point we set forward towards the Ashby canal for the winding point. We've had a bit of bother with the engine and Leigh had to steer us into the bank when it cut out! It is due for a service this month and we suspect there is something up with the fuel line.
After a top up of additive and diesel she chugged along at a steady pace for Hartshill without giving in again.
After a run of 3 hours the batteries have been fully charged and we have moored for the night back at the bridge after Hartshill boat yard.
The sun was shining scorching hot and after filling up with water and hosing the boat down, it was a joy to have reached a lovely place just to relax.
Though I dashed out to collect a bag of logs and tinder (incase the evening starts to cool down) and to fill up the gerry cans with the red stuff.
Delia was overjoyed to be off exploring the hedgerow and towpath...
When I walked the towpath to the car, I saw a layer of buttercups at the edge of the bank peering out to the boats that pass by, watching at the winding point the steady movement of boats turning in time. Beautiful spring time indeed. It's that time of year when ducklings charge about skimming the surface of the water and ride the bow waves. Horrah for spring time!
